Choosing the Right Kelowna Wedding Cake Bakery

Buying and choosing a wedding cake can be daunting. It shouldn't be! And with our help, it won't. Choosing a Kelowna wedding cake should be a fun and special experience, especially since you only get to do it once. The etiquette that is involved with when to cut the cake, serve the cake, and save the cake for later can get pretty confusing, so we have done our best to break it down for you.

Order in Advance

You should typically order your cake four to six months in advance. Weddings during the months of May through October should be ordered closer to six months out, because these are busier times of year. Saturdays are also the busiest day of the week so Thursday and Friday celebrations will have better luck ordering their cake later in advance.

Do guests eat the wedding cake?

Guests do eat the cakes, but only after it has been cut by the bride and groom. Typically, it is pre-sliced for you, allowing guests to grab a piece when they choose. After that, they may eat a slice in celebration with the other guests.

Saving The Topper

This can depend on the wishes of the bride. Most of the time, the topper is packed up by a designated member of catering staff. Couples typically take it home to freeze until their first year anniversary, when stye eat it again. You may also choose to take home left overs or send it home with relatives. Sometimes guests are even allowed to take home a piece or two.

Cutting the Kelowna Wedding Cakes

The bride and groom cut the matrimonial cake and typically, the groom's as well- in front of guests. The photographer takes pictures during this tradition as well. After that, the catering staff pre-slices dessert for the guests to eat.

Number of Tiers

This comes from an old nuptial tradition, where the bride and groom were were challenged to kiss over a very tall cake. They would have good luck if they managed not to topple the cake. This is also why couples usually kiss for pictures over their wedding cakes now.

A typical rule of thumb is to cater to 80% of the guests that you have invited. If you invite 100 guests, you only need enough cake for 80 of them, since there are usually some who don't want to eat cake. A matrimony cake with four tiers is probably best for 80 people. These tiers should be approximately 4", 6", 8", and 10".

Best Flavor

This is entirely up to you! Of course it's important to also have a flavor that your guests will enjoy. Vanilla and chocolate are classics that never disappoint. Butter cream, raspberry, and caramel are also popular flavors that add a little decadence without being over the top.

Bridal Shower Vegan Dessert Options

Bridal Shower Vegan Dessert Options

Who says you must resign to boring leaves and vegetables just because you have gone vegan? Who says you can't have an amazing dessert while you watch your favorite TV show just because you've moved to the other side of diet? Trust me, you can. You can enjoy sumptuous cakes, doughnuts, pies and even cookies and biscuits while staying green and healthy.   I've put together a comprehensive guide to three of the most amazing and delightful vegan desserts to keep you going each day, while you maintain your diet regimen.
  1. Pineapple Cake
Think fruity, moisture and sweet? Then look no further than the juicy pineapple cake. You will need about 5 slices of chopped pineapple, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 2 tsp of vegetable oil, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 cup of all-purpose white flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 1 tsp of baking soda, and a pinch of salt. You'll also need to preheat the oven up to 350° and do much of the regular baking processes such as greasing the baking dish with either butter or oil, serving the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to remove impurities.
  • Mix the chopped pineapple, sugar and lemon juice and blend to puree.
  • Mix the puree with oil along with dry ingredients. Do this lightly until it becomes a batter.
  • Put the batter into the greased baking dish and leave in the oven to bake for 40 minutes. Use a toothpick or knife to check. If not properly baked, leave for another 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Take it out and leave to cool on the rack.
  • Serve as desired with whipped cream or frost.
  1. Vegan Banana Cupcake
This is an easy Banana Cupcake that you can rustle up quite easily and have at a party, get-together, or during a movie with friends and family. They're egg and dairy-free and great for you if you're on a vegan diet. The ingredients you need are 2 large blackened and peeled bananas, 50ml sunflower/vegetable oil, 65g light brown sugar, 150g plain flour, 2 tsp cinnamon, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp oats, 50g seed mix and dried fruit, and 2 tbsp mixed seeds. The process to making your vegan Banana Cupcake is as follows.
  • Preheat the oven up to 180°C.
  • Put the bananas, oil and sugar in a bowl and mash together until properly mixed.
  • Add your flour, cinnamon, baking powder, dried fruit, as well as seed mix, and mix properly.
  • Line the Cupcake tray with the number of cases the bananas can take, and fill each of them up to ¾ full. Then sprinkle the mixed seeds and oats over them.
  • Place in the oven and leave to bake for 25-30 minutes. Some bakers insert a skewer into a muffin and when that comes out clean, it's an indication it is properly baked.
  • Bring it out and leave to cool for a few minutes.
  1. Cinnamon Chickpea Blondies
Talk about a moist, mouth-filling, and tender goodness with just a mild crackly crust on the outside; you won't just love the look and the feel, but you're sure to love the taste as well. They are much sweeter and healthier than the conventional blondie and can really get you hooked. The ingredients needed to make cinnamon Chickpea blondies are canned chickpeas, nut butter, maple syrup, raw cane sugar, oat flour, kosher salt, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and white chocolate chips or nuts (dairy free).
  • Prepare baking pan, oven, and food processor.
  • Rinse and drain your chickpeas and measure other ingredients.
  • Make your batter by blending chickpeas, maple syrup, and nut butter until you achieve a perfect mix.
  • Combine batter with dry ingredients. Ensure you sift all dry ingredients, including baking powder, sugar, baking soda, oat flour, cinnamon and salt and mix with the Chickpea batter in a large bowl.
  • Place in your pan and bake.
  • Eat just how you like it.
There are other recipes you can try out and there are several resources online to help you. Strawberry Doughnuts + Jam Frosting and Salted Maple Pecan Energy Balls are two notable examples of vegan desserts you can try out if you're out for something delicious and healthy. Ensure you follow this guide religiously, but you can also tweak things a bit to give it your own flavor.
Kelowna Dentist and Your Bridal Smile

Kelowna Dentist and Your Bridal Smile

Prepare Your Wedding Day Smile with Your Kelowna Dentist

You are the star attraction on your wedding day, and everyone wants a lovely photograph with your smiling face. You know very well what it takes to ensure a perfect smile with pearl white teeth of yours. The brides are more particular about it and want to look the best on this most special day.

People visit the dentist before the wedding day to treat common dental issues like stains, discoloring, chips, or cracks. During the engagement period, you have several options to ensure a lovely smile before the wedding day finally arrives.

You can choose to get a slow at-home TLC treatment at your convenience or quick, professional service at the dentist's office. We bring you the best dentist advice you may need from the very first day of your engagement.

1.  Consult your dentist

Depending on your teeth' condition, many treatments require more than a few months. To ensure that you don't rush with such time taking procedures, you must plan early by consulting your dentist. For instance, you may need 2-3 months for veneers, or It may take almost one year to align or straighten your teeth for orthodontic problems. You can get a reference for a specialist from your Kelowna dentist office.

2.  Proper cleaning of teeth

You need not whiten the teeth without cleaning them first because there is a common saying that you will never wax your car without cleaning it. You can decide whether you can manage to clean at home or you need some professional help.

3.  Don't delay whitening

It takes a minimum of 1-2 weeks for whitening treatment to give the best results. Dentists advise not to delay it till the last moment. It will not make any difference to finish off a week earlier. Some people opt for a professional whitening treatment a day before the wedding. But it can prove to be a costly mistake because incidental gum exposure can lead to avoidable irritation, which may spoil your special day. The next best option to it can be the use of at-home treatment with a whitening tray.

4.  Oral hygiene

During the engagement period right up to your wedding day, you have enough time to think about improving oral hygiene. You must maintain the best possible oral hygiene during this golden period. You may have several issues to worry about, but dental treatment should be one of your top priorities.

5.  The right kind of diet

It is important to eat what is right for your teeth. Eating apples or munching celery has the same effects as brushing your teeth. Many raw fruits or vegetables act as natural abrasives on your teeth to keep them clean. However, always avoid food responsible for staining teeth, e.g., coffee, red wine, barbecue sauce, and vinegar.

6.  Choose your toothpaste wisely

Stop using toothpaste containing silica, a highly abrasive element. It is not good for sensitive teeth and is suitable only for teeth with heavy stains. Toothpaste with Kaolin or bentonite clay is safer and effective for removing surface stains.

7.  Alcohol-free mouthwash

If you choose the wrong mouthwash, it may do more harm than good. The alcohol found in some mouthwashes makes the tooth structure weaker by drying the composite bonds. It is better to choose a natural colorless mouthwash that is alcohol-free.

8.  Sip differently

Using a straw to drink coffee can help you avoid direct contact with teeth, thereby reducing the chances of staining considerably. By keeping bendable straws with you in your purse for a few months, you are making a smarter move because it is easier to sip differently than saying goodbye to caffeine.

9.  A few cheats

Finally, if you do not opt for an effective professional treatment to whiten your teeth, you may still look your best by following a few quick-fixes. Avoid wearing the gold ornaments as they may reflect a yellowish tone on your white teeth. Instead, opt for some sparkling earrings that will make your teeth look whiter than usual.

Another hack is to use lipstick with natural red color. The contrasting effect will make your teeth appear whiter. Even rose, pink and sheer shades of lipsticks will also do the trick. But magenta color makes the teeth appear yellow. Besides, if you have minor cracks or stains, you can lightly apply petroleum jelly over the affected area. It will be a little effective in hiding the minor defects.

Wedding Dress Shopping and Bridal Stores Kelowna

Looking at all the wedding magazines can get the bride-to-be all excited about dresses that are way out of her price range. A good idea is to sit down and look over the full budget for your wedding and then decide on what part of that budget will be set aside for the bride’s wedding gown.

Setting a budget for the gown will help to keep the bride focused while searching top bridal stores Kelowna for styles and materials that are within the budget.

When to Start Shopping

It is a good idea to start shopping 9-12 months before your big day. There are factors that need to be considered when buying your wedding gown. It takes about 4-10 months for a gown to be made and shipping times must be considered. If your dress is coming from Paris, it will need alterations and sometimes multiple fittings before it is perfect. Your gown could take up to 12 months to be ready to wear.

If you do not have that kind of time to wait for a dress, some designers do offer rush services, but you will end up paying more for your wedding dress. If you are lucky to fit into a sample size dress that is taken off the rakes, many shops will give you a lower price.

Styles of Wedding Dresses

Choose a couple of different styles that you like the most. Cut out some pictures of the styles you think will fit you best. Your stylist will be able to pull a few to show you and see if they are what you are looking for in a wedding dress.

Bridal Salon Appointments

If you are looking in different salons for your dress, make your appointments all in one day or at least on the same weekend. This way you will have each dress fresh in your mind.

Choose Who You Want to Shop with You

Pick the people who will be helping you pay for your dress and who will give you positive ideas on what looks good or not. Do not make your group to big when shopping for your gown.

Usually, the future Mother in Law is invited, your mom and or dad, your maid of honor and maybe your bridesmaids. Remember not everyone has to be invited. Take time to have lunch and show your party how you appreciate their advice.

Undergarment to Bring When Shopping

Nude colored panties are best and a bra is not really needed. Most wedding gowns have more support than regular strapless dresses. You may decide what bra you need after you have picked your dress. When you are having your alterations done, you can have a fancy bra sewn into your gown.

Don’t Worry About Sizing

Wedding dresses have completely different sizing. Your size in a normal dress will most likely be larger than the size wedding dress you buy. Wedding dresses in the salon come in many different sizes and they can clip the back so it fits close enough for you to get a good idea of how it will look in your size.

Take Pictures of Your Favorite Dresses

The pictures will help you to compare other dresses at the next salon and see which ones you like best. Make sure your friends take both the front and the back of the dress.

Say Yes to the First Dress

Do not be afraid to say that the first dress you try on is exactly what you are looking for in a wedding dress. You may continue with your other appointments but that first dress will always be in your mind.

Bundle Your Wedding Items

Some salons will bundle your dress, veil, and accessories and give you a better price so you can stay within your budget.

Paperwork for Your Purchases

Make sure you save all your contracts. These will have your future fitting dates and tentative delivery date for your wedding gown.

Wedding Gowns and Styles

With a large number of different styles, the future bride can find the perfect fit no matter what their figure is. Bridal shops usually carry the hourglass figure, mermaid and sexy wedding dresses. Brides will have a number of options to choose from and be that princess on their wedding day.

Length of Dress and Sleeves

Future brides should check out shops that have a good selection of dresses with different lengths, bodice options, and sleeve lengths available. Dresses come with full-length sleeves, elbow length, and bodices of all different styles and lengths.

Options of Sizes

Wedding dress shops carry a variety of sizes from very small to plus sizes. They also offer custom made options so the future bride has that perfect fit. Getting your wedding dress tailored to your figure will make your dress fit like a silk glove. Bliss Bridal salons know that the bride has a lot to get organized so they do their best to make sure your wedding gown is perfect and to the bride’s satisfaction.

The Perfect Wedding Shoe

The bride’s wedding shoes are important. They need to be comfortable, stylish and unique. The bride will have many different styles and colors to choose from for that special day. The traditional flats, heels, and wedges can be made with lace, sequins, bows, flowers or anything you can imagine. Sandals are great for the summertime and can be dressed up for your perfect wedding day.

Bridal Stores

Many wedding dress stores carry a massive range of different wedding dresses for the future bride to choose from. Shops usually carry long sleeve, classic vintage theme dresses, and tea length wedding dresses. Bridal stores carry a wide collection of gowns in a multitude of different fabrics. Brides can choose from satin, lace, cotton, tulle and much more depending on the season or their venue.

Your bridal salon stylist will help you find that perfect wedding gown and set up fitting times for alterations and delivery date. Shops will have the veils and all the accessories to complete your beautiful wedding outfit.

Wedding parties typically last in between three to five hours. A cautious coordinator needs to make a timetable. It is going to help everyone included with your wedding event including your guests, your caterer, the band, and the professional photographer. Keeping with the prepared schedule can boost your and your guests' total experience. No matter the design or the duration of your reception, planning can benefit everyone. It is important that you prepare ahead and establish a sequence of events for your reception. Spending time and effort prior to the wedding event can conserve you from a lot of confusion and unneeded distractions on your big day. You can expect better arise from any plan that is put in writing. Make sure to give a copy to your wedding event vendors, your wedding attendants and member of the family so they understand where they need to be and when. Be as detailed as possible when preparing your reception itinerary. Consist of names, the order of events, particular areas and song titles of unique dances. As you prepare your schedule, do not be too concerned about exact times. The times on your schedule need to act just as a guide and to keep things moving in the ideal direction and make sure that everything gets done! The order of occasions is more vital than the time of events. The order of occasions is up to you, but once established you should stay with it. Since wedding event visitors need to not start dancing until after the groom and bride have actually had their very first dance, some brides choose to do their very first dance with their spouse really early into the reception, before dinner is served. Other brides prefer to do it after supper, when the "genuine dancing starts". If you put in the effort to have actually every minute planned, you must complete the procedure by preparing a printed wedding and reception schedule for your visitors. Include the approximate arrival time of the bride in her wedding dress and the groom, first dance, cake cutting, special toasts to the couple, photo taking, tossing of the bride's arrangement and garter, etc. Getting everything organized ahead of time helps you and your guests to have a beautiful wedding party.
